DONALD DUKE: I STILL WANT TO BECOME PRESIDENT

A former governor of Cross River State, Mr Donald Duke, on Tuesday said he would still take a shot at the presidency, if the opportunity presented itself.

Duke who spoke at a programme, “The Nigerian Symposium for Emerging Leaders,” held in Lagos, said though he once aspired to the position but did not emerge the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he would still contest for the highest office in the country at the appropriate time.

Adeleke: INEC fixes July 8 for Osun West Senatorial bye-election

The Independent National​ Electorial Commission (INEC) has fixed July 8 for Osun-West Senatorial District bye-election to elect a new senator for the constituency after the sudden death of Sen. Isiaka Adeleke.


In a notice by Administrative Secretary, INEC, Osun, E.A Ademusire, in Osogbo on Monday, conduct of parties’ primaries would commence on Tuesday through June14 while the election would hold on July 8.

MR PRESIDENT RECOVER FAST: SAY HIS WIFE AS SHE RETURN FROM UK

Wife of the President, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, Tuesday morning, returned from the UK, where she went to visit her husband, who is on medical leave.


Mrs. Buhari, on arrival, conveyed the appreciation of the President to Nigerians over their constant prayers and said he will soon be with them as he is recuperating fast.

LAGOS STATE AND NURTW (OSHODI VIOLENCE)





Following the violence that led to the death of a leader of Motorcycle Operators’ Association of Lagos State (MOALS) in Oshodi, Alhaji Rasaq Bello popularly known as Hamburger, the State Government on Monday suspended activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in all the seven branches in the area indefinitely.

The affected branches are LOB A, LOB D, LOB J, Oshodi A, Oshodi B, Oshodi C and Oshodi D.

The State Government, in a news conference jointly addressed by officials of the State, the police and NURTW at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa, said while the suspension order lasts, there would be no collection of tickets/fees from commuter buses operating in the area.
Addressing the briefing, the State’s Acting Commissioner for Transportation, Prince Olanrewaju Elegushi said throughout the duration of the suspension order, a team of State Government officials and security personnel would be mandated to oversee and monitor the transport operations within the affected branches to ensure they do not collect any ticket or fees from transport operators.

Hurray! Pastor Adeboye is 74 years old today




Enoch Adejare Adeboye,  the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG), is 74 years old today, March 2, 2016.

A native of Osun State, Daddy G.O as he’s fondly called had his B.Sc. in Mathematics at University of Nigeria, Nsukka and subsequently got his PhD in applied mathematics from the University of Lagos, and worked as a lecturer in mathematics at the Universities of Lagos and Ilorin.
